Incident at Waffle House leads to arrest Friday

An arrest was made Friday night at the Waffle House in Columbus after a man assaulted a 17-year-old in the parking lot, according to the Columbus Police Department.
The incident followed Polk Countys football win over Hendersonville when the Waffle House was packed with fans and players.
Calvin Edward Halford, 47, of Papa Halford Rd., Tryon, was arrested and charged with simple assault, assault by pointing a gun and intoxicated and disruptive behavior, according to Chris Beddingfield of the Columbus Police Department. Reports say Halford physically assaulted the 17-year-old and pointed a gun around 10:22 p.m. Friday night.
Halford was released on a $1,500 bond. A court date has been set for Dec. 16.
The gun was recovered by the Columbus Police Department.
