Please join Saluda Living In Place for this important and FREE program on Thursday, April 7 2022 at 10 a.m. at Saluda Fire and Rescue, Greenville Street in Saluda.
More than one in three people over 65 fall each year. Don’t be one of them! Come and learn simple steps you can take to reduce your risk of falls and serious injury should you take a spill.
Join guest speaker, Dan LaPlaca, owner, co-founder and Doctor of Physical Therapy of PRO Physical Therapy in Columbus and learn about the medical issues related to trips and falls.
- Problems and causes of falls;
- The roles that balance and core strength plays;
- How to assess risk and
- How to prevent falls by improving balance and and mobility
Frank McNutt, SLIP Board Member and Home Safety and Accessibility Specialist will offer information on environmental issues related to slips and falls, including identifying safety risks within the home; home safety modifications for seniors and tips to help you reduce your risk.
Bruce Jayne, SLIP Volunteer and Incoming Board Member has researched Medical Alert Systems, which have come a long way since the old television commercials. They can save lives and provide peace of mind for those who are at risk of falling, or have other health condition.s Come and learn some of the options that are now available.
Falls among adults age 65+ are very costly. According to the CDC, each year about $50 billion is spent on medical costs related to non-fatal fall injuries and $754 million is spent related to fatal falls.
