COLUMBUS – Arthur J. Kuntz, 82, of Tryon Estates, passed away Monday, January 17, 2022, after many years with Parkinson’s Disease and more recently pneumonia. He was born on September 16, 1939, in Kokomo, IN, and is the son of the late Elmer Kuntz and Nellie Pohlman Kuntz. He was happily married to Judith Marie Ritz Kuntz of Tryon Estates for the past 59 years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Jeff Kuntz (Janet) of Spartanburg, SC; a daughter, Jan Kuntz Heston (Brad) of Roswell, GA; and predeceased by a daughter, Jamie Kuntz Hall (Rodney) of Greer, SC. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Matthew Hall of Columbia, SC; Emma Heston of Atlanta, GA; Anne Marie Heston of Auburn, AL; Ford Heston of Roswell, GA; Kaitlyn Hall of Greer, SC; and John Kuntz of Spartanburg, SC.

Mr. Kuntz was a graduate of Kokomo High School (Kokomo, IN, 1957) and Purdue University (1961) with a degree in Electrical Engineering. At Purdue, he is an active member of the Beta Chapter of the Beta Sigma Psi Lutheran Fraternity. He was employed by General Electric in Tell City, IN (1961-1966), and General Electric in Pinellas Park, FL (1966-1987), after which he retired to Saluda, NC where he and Judith built their dream home on 44 acres of land. Mr. Kuntz continued to take graduate courses in engineering to become a licensed professional engineer.

As a proud father of three busy children during their younger years, Mr. Kuntz and his wife were a constant presence and supporter of little league games, music lessons, synchronized swimming meets, cheerleading, marching band competitions, and countless band and orchestra concerts.

During his life, church membership and service played an important role. Mr. Kuntz was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Kokomo, IN; Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Tell City, IN; Christ the King Lutheran Church, Largo, FL; Bay Pines Lutheran Church, Seminole, FL; Grace Lutheran Church, Hendersonville, NC; and Trinity Lutheran Church in Tryon, NC.

A memorial service for Arthur J. Kuntz will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, February 19, 2022, at Trinity Lutheran Church, officiated by Pastor Thomas L. Olson. Visitation with the family will immediately follow the service.
