TRYON – Jenny Rene’ Shreeves Deatrick, 42, of Tryon, went home to be with the Lord Sunday
afternoon, March 21, 2021, at her home surrounded by her family.
Born in Rock Island, IL, she was the daughter of the late William Shreeves and Lisa Woods
Shreeves. Jenny was a graduate of Ambassador Baptist College earning her Bachelor’s Degree in
Education in 2000. She and her husband moved to Polk County in 2011, coming from Cleveland
County.
She was the Pastor’s wife and charter member of Crossroads Baptist Church, Columbus.
At 15 years of age, she recognized that, because of her sin, she was separated from God, and that
Jesus Christ, as the Lamb of God, was her sin-bearing Substitute, and her only hope of
reconciliation to God for eternal life in Heaven. She placed her faith in Christ, as Savior, and He
transformed her life. From the beginning of her new life in Christ, she became known for her
determined focus to serve Christ whole-heartedly in His plan for her life. That purpose led her to
marry a preacher, serve her family selflessly and unconditionally in the home, rear four children
for God’s glory, and love the people of the ministries where her husband served. She did all that
she could for Jesus because He is worthy of our all. Some of her last words to her children were
“Jesus is better! Be all in for Jesus. Don’t be distracted by the trinkets of this world.”
Surviving is her husband of 22 years, Pastor Nathan Deatrick; one son, Judson Deatrick of the
home; three daughters, Emalyn Villanueva (Micah) of Tryon, Audrey Deatrick and Elaina
Deatrick, both of the home; one sister, Angel Pouland of TX; three brothers, Josh Shreeves of
FL, Dave Shreeves of IL, and Brook Miller. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening, March 25, 2021,
in the McFarland Funeral Chapel.
A celebration of Jenny’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 26, 2021 in the Ambassador
Baptist College Chapel, Shelby, NC, with Pastor Nathan Deatrick officiating.
Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens, Columbus.
Memorials may be made to Four Seasons Hospice, 571 South Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC or to
Ambassador Baptist College, P.O. Box 158, Lattimore, NC 28089.
