Last week, a group of motivated volunteers worked to help rid the Vaughn Creek Greenway of several non-native plants along the creek. The area is loaded with invasive species such as privet, wisteria, honeysuckle, oriental bittersweet and kudzu.

The seven volunteers spent a couple of hours removing invasive vines from shade trees on the property. In addition to physically removing the vines, the workers also applied a basal herbicide treatment.

The long term goal is to rid the pristine town owned property of the woody weeds that have taken over many areas along the greenway,
