Blue Ridge Health (BRH), a leading provider of healthcare services in Western North Carolina, is pleased to announce Sheri Johnston as the new Practice Manager of our Polk County clinic located at 161 Walker Street in Columbus. Mrs. Johnston, who joined the BRH team on October 12, is replacing Sandra McGriff after she transitioned to an administrative role within the organization after managing the BRH-Polk location for five years.

Mrs. Johnston has been a registered nurse for more than 22 years and received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from West Virginia University, a Master of Science in Nursing from Western Governors University and a master’s in business administration from Southern Wesleyan University. In addition to her educational accomplishments, she has a broad array of medical and supervisory experience and has worked in emergency medicine, family health and residency offices.

“I became passionate about providing quality healthcare to the uninsured and underinsured in my previous roles, and I consider it a privilege to help individuals who struggle receiving healthcare get access to the resources they need to be healthy,” said Sheri Johnston.” I am also excited to connect with patients in our community and to launch nurse-led patient education for health conditions such as diabetes and hypertension.”

Like other BRH sites, our Polk County location provides full-spectrum primary care services, including family medicine, obstetrics, pediatrics, psychiatry, counseling, nutrition, as well as access to outreach/case management and dental services. BRH – Polk accepts most insurance plans, including Medicaid and Medicare. Patients without insurance and those with high deductibles pay on a sliding scale based on family size and household income, and no one is ever turned away for an inability to pay.
