Polk County High School junior Chan Barber has been elected to the Western North Carolina Regional FFA Officer Team, the school’s first regional officer since 2004.
Barber will serve as Historian during the 2020-2021 school year. He is the first regional officer since Matt Holt was elected in 2004.
“Chan is an outstanding young man,” said Chad Ayers, Western North Carolina Regional FFA Advisor and Madison High School Agricultural Education instructor. “He has a high affinity for success as indicated by his strong work ethic.
“Another exceptional attribute about Chan is empathy toward others from all walks of life and willingness to serve through the giving of his time and talents. Not to mention he is an exceptional athlete with strong leadership skills he puts to use to make a positive impact on others inside and outside the classroom.”
The West Region consists of 40 agricultural education programs at middle and high schools across a 16-county region of Western North Carolina.
