Tryon Concert Association (TCA) presents the first of six Front Row: National concerts by members of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln. This archived concert, available to everyone at no charge, will be accessible for viewing through the TCA website, tryonconcerts.org, from Wednesday, September 23 through Sunday, September 27.
In this first performance, Anne-Marie McDermott, pianist, will commence with Mozart’s Concerto in D minor for Piano, Flute and Strings, K. 466. She will be accompanied by Tara Helen O’Connor on flute, Sean Lee and Bella Hristova on violin, Paul Neubauer on viola, Mihai Marica on cello, and Timothy Cobb on bass. Ms. McDermott describes playing this piece as an “absolutely joy-filled and exhilarating experience.”
The second piece to be performed is Smetana’s Trio for Piano, Violin, and Cello, Op. 15. Ida Kavafian, violin, and Gary Hoffman, cello, will join Ms. McDermott. The composer wrote this touching piece to commemorate the death of his young daughter, and it reflects the grief and yearning he felt at her passing.
Anne-Marie McDermott is well known for her performances in concertos, recitals, and chamber music. She has played with leading orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, and at music festivals around the world. Her recordings have earned her “Editor’s Choice” awards from Gramophone magazine, and she has received an Avery Fisher Career Grant. Currently she serves as artistic director of the Bravo! Vail Music Festival and tours with various chamber music ensembles.
The CMS musicians performing in this concert are outstanding in their mastery of their respective instruments. They are known for playing with passion, sensitivity, and beautiful sound. Several are principals in major orchestra, most teach at prestigious institutions, and all are recognized for their accomplishments in their fields.
