Sheriff’s office arrests 2 for breaking into high school

COLUMBUS—The Polk County Sheriff’s Office arrested 2 men this week for breaking into Polk County High School in Columbus.

The sheriff’s office said that on June 5 deputies responded to the high school for a breaking and entering that had occurred the night before. Several buses and buildings were entered and 2 laptops were stolen, according to police reports.

Talon Sky Screamer, 19, who lives at Ashley Meadows adjacent to the high school was arrested and charged with 8 counts of felony breaking and entering a motor vehicle; 1 count of felony breaking and entering a building and 1 count of felony larceny after breaking and entering, according to sheriff’s office reports.

Luis Mateo Caudillo, 19, also of Ashley Meadows, was arrested and charged with 8 counts of felony breaking and entering a motor vehicle; 1 count of felony breaking and entering a building and 1 count of felony larceny after breaking and entering, according to sheriff reports.

Officers said after being interviewed and admitting to the break-ins, the suspects led investigators to the stolen laptops, which were recovered.

The investigation included video surveillance from the school, with investigators then conducting interviews.

Both Screamer and Caudillo were given $30,000 secured bonds by a Polk County Magistrate.
