Local Spartanburg and Greenville County voters can vote at their polling places. City of Landrum voters go to the Landrum United Methodist Church, while Spartanburg County residents in the Landrum area vote at Landrum High School. Area Greenville County residents, including Lake Lanier, vote at the Gowensville Community Center.

South Carolina and North Carolina differ in primaries. South Carolina will only have a presidential primary for the democrat party. South Carolina’s Republican Party canceled its primary, with all delegates expected to be allocated to current President Donald Trump. In the 2016 general election, Trump won in South Carolina with 54.9 percent of the vote compared to Hillary Clinton’s 40.7 percent.

South Carolina will be the fourth presidential primary in the United States, referred to as “First in the South.”

South Carolina also does not provide for registration by party, so primaries are open, which means any voter can participate in any one party’s primary. Registered republicans can also vote Saturday and pick a democratic nominee for president.

The ballot will only contain democrat presidential candidates, including some that have officially withdrawn from the race, but did not withdraw prior to the deadline.

South Carolina’s Primary for federal, state, county and municipal elections will be held on June 9 with run-offs scheduled for June 23.

The 2020 General Election will be on Tuesday, Nov. 3.
