Same teen, twin sister now missing

Polk County Division of Social Services still searching for missing 17-year old boy

POLK COUNTY—The same teen from a couple of weeks ago who went missing from a Buncombe County facility is missing again and this time with her twin sister. 

The Polk County Division of Social Services is looking for 15-year olds Emily Rebekah Garcia and Abigail Garcia.

Emily is approximately 5’5” tall, has dark brown hair and brown/hazel eyes though she recently died her hair with red highlights. Abigail has long dark brown hair and is also approximately 5’5” tall. Emily and Abigail ran away from the Black Mountain area at approximately 8:56 p.m. on Feb. 9 with two other teenagers (one male and one female). The other teenagers are not in Polk County’s custody. The teenagers have family and friends in Polk, Henderson and Buncombe Counties, DSS officials said.

Emily Garcia went missing from the Buncombe County facility on Jan. 30 and was found the next evening in Polk County. The next morning, Jan. 31, another teenager in Polk County custody went missing from an Avery County facility. Polk County DSS is still looking for Kaden Chance Jobe, age 17. Jobe is 5’9” tall, has light brown hair and blues eyes and was last seen in Crossnore. Jobe has family and friends in Polk County, as well as Spartanburg and Cherokee counties in South Carolina and in Cleveland, Ga. 

All three teens are in Polk County’s DSS custody and were being housed outside the county. 

DSS officials said there is no reason to think Kobe is connected in any way to the Garcia sisters. 

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Emily and Abigail Garcia or Jobe is urged to the Polk County DSS at 828-894-2100 during business hours or the Polk County Communication Center at 828-894-0188 after hours. People can also contact Det. Scott Piper with the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office at 828-250-4448 with information about the Garcia sisters.
