In an effort to inform parents about significant issues and trends impacting students and young people, Polk County Schools is hosting a Parent Information Night on Dec. 3 with presentations on vaping and electronic cigarettes, social media and Internet safety, and youth mental health and wellness.

In recent years Polk County Schools has seen an increase in student vaping and use of electronic cigarettes, problems associated with the use of social media and the Internet and issues related to youth mental health and wellness. The goal of Parent Information Night is to both educate families and to provide access to resources for assistance and support.

The event will be held from 7-8:30 p.m. in Polk County High School’s auditorium and is open to students, parents, families and the public. Each presentation on these three topics will last approximately 20 minutes with time following for questions.
