Forest City – Patricia Ann “Patsy” Poteat, age 80 of Forest City died Monday, April 8, 2019 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills. She was born February 16, 1939 in Union County, South Carolina and was the daughter of the late Charles and Hazel Newton Crawley.
Patsy was a homemaker and a member of Robertson Creek Free Will Baptist Church. She was devoted to her family and enjoyed the activities at the Rutherford County Senior Center.
Survivors include her husband, Ray Poteat, her sons, Kevin Poteat and wife Sandra of Mill Spring, NC, Dwayne Poteat and wife Kim of Rutherfordton, a daughter, Pam Mitchem and husband Greg of Charlotte, brother, Ray Crawley and wife Marion of Southern Shores NC, her grandchildren, Nathan, Clint, Josh, and Savannah Poteat, Andrew and Jordan Mitchem, Maci Johnson and Madison Poteat. There are also three great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Abby, and Emmylou Poteat.
The funeral service will be held at 3 o’clock Thursday at Robertson Creek Free Will Baptist Church with Reverend Colby Davis and Reverend Paul Rowe officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2:45 prior to the service at the church.
