Polk County Volleyball Club enjoyed one of the more successful days in club history on Saturday, with all five of the club’s teams finishing first or second in the Southeast Alliance Volleyball League Icebreaker, held at various locations in the Carolinas.

The PCVC 12U squad finished the day undefeated in winning the 14-team 11-12 Girls Club division title. PCVC did not lose a set in its five matches, closing the day with a 25-17, 25-9 win over Upward Stars 12 Candi.

PCVC’s 13U squad dropped just one set and also finished undefeated en route to winning its division. The 13U team defeated Lake Norman 13 Select 25-22, 25-12 in its championship match.

PCVC’s 16U team also brought home a championship, going 5-0 on the day despite playing the tourney with just six players. The squad swept Brevard-based MEVC 16 Cori 25-19, 25-18 in the final.

The 14U division included a mammoth 24-team field, but PCVC 14U battled through that to place second, going undefeated and dropping just one set before dropping a hard-fought 26-24, 25-23, 16-14 decision in the championship match against CJV 14 Jana of Charlotte.

PCVC 17-18 also earned a championship runner-up, reaching the title match in the division before falling 25-12, 25-18 to East Denver 17U Elite.

The 13U and 14U teams are slated to be back in competition Feb. 2-3 at the SAVL Alliance Classic. All teams will then compete in the SAVL Champion Challenge on Feb. 9.
