Wolverines celebrate season, hand out awards at football banquet

Polk County’s football program recently honored a number of players and cheerleaders with awards at its season-ending banquet held in the school cafeteria.
The Wolverines celebrated a season in which they reached the third round of the state 1AA playoffs for just the second time in school history.
Senior Mitchell Yoder was named the team’s Most Valuable Player as well as the Most Valuable Offensive Back and Most Valuable Defensive Back.
Also winning awards were:
• Mr. Wolverine: Avery Edwards
• Most Improved: Cameron Blackwell
• Most Valuable Offensive Lineman: Luke Sellers
• Most Valuable Defensive Lineman: Trey Thompson
• Most Valuable Linebacker: Bryson Seay
• Most Valuable Receiver: Ryan Heider
• Captain Awards: Elijah Sutton, Avery Edwards and Luke Sellers
• Most Valuable JV Offensive Player: Harrison Waddell
• Most Valuable JV Defensive Player: Kanye Staley
• Most Improved JV: Thomas Bowen
Cheerleaders honored during the night included:
• Golden Megaphone: Bethany Bruce
• Top Gun Award: Aislin Salerno
• Best All Around: Natalee Davis
• Most Spirited: Elyse Noland
• Most Dependable: Taylor Newton
• Coaches Award: Helena Netschytailo
• Most Dependable JV: Lauryn McCraw
• Golden Megaphone JV: Delaney Tipton
• Coaches Award JV: Makayla Ledford
