Conference co-leader Rugby tops Polk Middle wrestlers

Polk County Middle dropped a 66-42 decision Tuesday to Rugby Middle in a Blue Ridge Athletic Conference match in Mills River.
The Wolverines kept it close against a Raiders team currently tied for the lead in the Blue Ridge Athletic Conference’s East Division with a 9-1 record. But the Raiders put together three straight wins in the middle weights and upper weights to secure the win.
Polk Middle won seven matches with pins, those coming from Topher Pearson, Bryson Rickman, Aiden Riva, Casey Beiler, Angus Weaver, Brian Tuffill and Jesus Urieta.
The Wolverines will be back on the mat Thursday, visiting Flat Rock.
