PCHS, PCMS teams return to competition after week away

After a week’s delay due to weather, athletic competitions resume this week for Polk County High School and Polk County Middle School.
Wolverines at both venues will battle this week in their final pre-holiday competitions before taking a break for Christmas vacation.
Events scheduled this week include:
Monday
Polk County Middle School’s wrestling team hosted Smoky Mountain Middle, while the Wolverine boys and girls basketball squads traveled to Asheville Christian.
Tuesday
A busy day as PCMS wrestlers will again hit the home mat, hosting Brevard Middle, while the PCMS basketball teams travel to Brevard. Polk County’s varsity boys and girls and junior varsity boys will wrap up their 2018 action with home games against Piedmont Community Charter.
Wednesday
PCHS wrestlers will take their turn, hosting Shelby and Kings Mountain in a nonconference tri-match.
Thursday
Members of Polk County High’s indoor track team will get a look at JDL Fast Track, home of the state championship meet, as the Wolverines compete in the Spartan Classic.
Friday-Saturday
PCHS wrestlers will spend two days competing in one of the biggest wrestling events in western North Carolina, the Great Smoky Mountain Grapple at the Asheville Civic Center.
