Area events rescheduled due to winter weather warning

A number of events that were set to take place this weekend have been postponed or canceled  due to the severe winter weather warning issued for the Foothills and greater western North Carolina region.

The 2018 Community Chorus Christmas concert, originally scheduled to take place Sunday, Dec. 9, has been postponed to 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 6, at Polk County High School, located at 1681 Highway 108, Columbus.

TLT’s ‘A Christmas Memory’

Tryon Little Theater is modifying the schedule of Chris Tinkler’s one-man production of Truman Capote’s “A Christmas Memory.” The shows set to take place this Saturday and Sunday are rescheduled for next weekend, Dec. 15 and 16. Curtains will open at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday and at 3 p.m. on Sunday at the TLT Workshop, 516 S. Trade St., Tryon. Proceeds from the shows will support the Tryon Summer Youth Theater program.

Upstairs Artspace 40th Anniversary Gala

Upstairs Artspace’s 40th Anniversary Gala, originally set for Saturday, has been canceled. In its place, the community is invited to a Free Celebration from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 17. Other events scheduled as part of the celebration will continue through Dec. 21, including a historical exhibit of the Upstairs’ history, and a silent auction of works by artists who have exhibited at Upstairs in the past.

FENCE Holiday concert

FENCE has canceled the holiday concert with the Blissing Trio that was scheduled for Sunday.
