The Tryon Little Theater’s third show of the season will be the international smash-hit musical “Mamma Mia!” which will be staged at the Tryon Fine Arts Center Feb. 14-17. 

Auditions at Sunnydale are set for 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, and 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13. Callbacks, if needed, will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15.

Since its Broadway opening in October 2001, the ABBA-inspired musical has been seen by 54 million people worldwide, and inspired a record-breaking movie starring Meryl Streep.

On the sunny Greek island of Kalokairi, Sophie is dreaming of her forthcoming wedding to Sky, but is saddened that her mother, Donna, has never told her about her father. Reading Donna’s diary, she identifies three suspects from her mother’s past — adventurer Bill, successful Sam and ex-rocker Harry – and secretly invites them to the island, hoping to quiz them.

As Donna struggles to confront her past, she and her two best friends take a trip down memory lane, recalling their glory days as glam rockers Donna and the Dynamos.

Will seeing her ex-lovers rekindle old flames?  And who is Sophie’s father?

Director Dan Harvey and Musical Director Pam McNeil are seeking six women and seven men, plus an ensemble of four to six women and a like number of men. All characters appear to be age 18 and up.

Those auditioning are asked to arrive at Sunnydale, 334 S. Trade St., Tryon, 15 minutes early to fill out audition forms, and have with them a complete list of conflicts from Nov. 25 to Dec. 16 and Jan. 2 to Feb. 17. 

They are to prepare either a song from the show or in ABBA style to demonstrate their range and vocal strength. They need to dress in clothes that allow easy movement and wear comfortable shoes, as they are given a short dance routine.
