Area towns, school farm hosting Halloween Strolls Wednesday
POLK COUNTY/LANDRUM — Area children dressed for Halloween will have several options this Wednesday to collect lots of goodies.
Halloween strolls are being held Wednesday in Columbus, Landrum, Saluda and Tryon, as well as the Polk County High School farm.
Columbus
The town of Columbus’ stroll begins first, from 3-6 p.m. for its annual Spooktacular Halloween event. The town and businesses and organizations will be set up around the courthouse brick sidewalk to offer treats to children.
Businesses and organizations who wish to participate are asked to show up and bring a table, chair and candy.
Landrum
The city of Landrum’s stroll and fall festival is from 5-7 p.m. East Rutherford Street will be closed from 4:30 – 7:30 p.m. and North Trade Avenue will be closed from 3 – 8 p.m.
Tryon
Tryon’s stroll includes downtown businesses handing out candy and a costume contest. The costume contest will be at 5:30 p.m. at the clock tower, weather permitting.
Trick or treating will follow the costume contest, with the street closed between 4 and 4:30 p.m.
“If anyone would like to set up that is not a downtown business, you can do so after the street is closed,” said Tryon Downtown Development Association Director Jamie Carpenter. “You may set up in the available parking spots with a table, car trunk, etc.”
Saluda
The city of Saluda’s stroll will be from 5-7 p.m. downtown on Main Street.
Downtown businesses Nostalgia Courtyard to the Green River BBQ will be handing out goodies to children.
Polk County High School Farm
Polk County High School and FFA will have activities for children on Wednesday from 4:30-6 p.m. at the Polk County High School Farm.
Activities will include a broom race, musical hay bales, pumpkin picking, apple cider, face painting and animals.
