Local mystery author Mark Schweizer will introduce the latest book in his liturgical mystery series at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Landrum Library.
“The Choir Director Wore Out” is the 15th book in the series. It is set in the little town of St. Germaine, North Carolina, where people are mysteriously dying.
Schweizer’s stories feature police chief and part-time church organist Hayden Koenig. Not only does the chief enjoy solving crimes, he also writes his own detective stories.
Schweizer received his latest award in 2018, when he was declared one of the winners in the Bulwer-Lytton Fiction Contest. The annual contest challenges writers to create the worst opening sentence of an imaginary novel.
In the past, Schweizer has hosted a classical music radio show, attempted to cash in on the pot-bellied pig boom of the 1980s, directed stage productions and built a log cabin in Tennessee. Today, he works as a musician, composer, author and publisher in Tryon.
