A best-selling author plans to attend a concert next month by violinist Filip Pogady, who will perform at the next Music in Landrum event at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 9, at Landrum United Methodist Church.
The event will be free and open to everyone of all ages. Attendees will celebrate Pogady’s first CD with a violin cake from Tryon’s Jen Grubbs.
After his performance, Pogady will jet off to Sydney, Australia, to participate in Mad Music, a nonprofit organization that brings music to those with mental illness.
When best-selling author Elizabeth Kostova (“The Historian,” “Swan Thieves” and “Shadow Lands”) heard Filip play the very same piece that is featured in her latest novel, she readily agreed to dine with him when he came to the Landrum area, and attend his performance on Sept. 9.
Fabio Parrini will accompany Filip on a 6-foot-4-inch Boston Concert Grand Piano.
The program will be 50 minutes, without intermission.
