Joe Furman Waldrop, 86, of Columbus, passed away Friday morning, July 20, 2018.

A native of Polk County, he was the son of the late Otis and Ardell Phillips Waldrop.

Waldrop retired from Spartanburg Steel. He was of the Methodist faith.

He was the last surviving member of nine children.

Surviving is his loving wife of 65 years, Frances Underwood Waldrop; one son, Robin Waldrop of Columbus; one daughter, Mitzi Morgan (Dirk) of Gastonia; three grandchildren, Stephanie Waldrop of West Palm Beach, and Blake and Dylan Morgan both of Gastonia.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday evening, July 26, 2018, at the McFarland Funeral Chapel. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 27, 2018, in Tryon City Cemetery.
