Tryon Painters & Sculptors to offer free drawing class beginning July 9
Published 5:59 pm Monday, June 25, 2018
Tryon Painters & Sculptors will offer its second in a series of free classes, “Drawing,” taught by Hague Williams & Mary-Beth Noble, from July 9 to Aug. 13.
Classroom size is limited. The class will be held on Mondays from July 9 through Aug. 13 from 1-4 p.m. downstairs at the Tryon Painters and Sculptors Gallery, 78 N. Trade St., downtown Tryon.
The goals of this class will be for students to discover drawing with a variety of drawing methods and materials. All levels are welcome, from beginner to advanced, and students can expect to build their skills from whatever level they are on currently.
Materials used for drawing in this class will include pencil, charcoal, ink and water, and, over time, students will learn more complex drawing with subject matter such as still life and life drawing.
The class is offered free of charge due to a grant from the Polk County Community Foundation and the Mary F. Kessler fund. PCCF has long been a supporter of TPS, and in this year’s grant, a portion was designated to be used by TPS to offer up to four instructional courses in 2018 at no cost to course participants who reside in Polk County and Landrum.
Residents of Polk County and Landrum (ZIP Code 29356) 13 or older may take the class for free. All materials will be supplied free of charge.
TPS members and nonmembers who do not live inside of Polk County or the 29356 Landrum ZIP can also take the class if there is room, but must pay their own way.
For registration and additional information about this event and the organization, people may visit the TPS website at tryonpaintersandsculptors.com, stop by the gallery and studios in downtown Tryon, or call 828-859-0141.
