Family physician Dr. Lisa Broyles and staff are welcoming patients to the brand-new Saluda Family Medicine, a small family practice with a hometown feel, said representatives with St. Luke’s Hospital.
The clinic, located at 1347 Ozone Drive, Suite 2, opened for patient care April 17.
Saluda Family Medicine hosted an open house celebration last month with a crowd of local residents attending for the opportunity to meet the new — and only — doctor in Saluda.
Broyles said she looks forward to treating babies, their grandparents and all ages in between.
A native of Asheville, Broyles graduated from the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University, and completed her three-year residency in family practice at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.
For the past several years, she has served patients at urgent care centers in South Carolina and Tennessee. Prior to this, she was medical director for the East Tennessee Spine and Nerve Center in Chattanooga and the Johnson City (Tennessee) Downtown Clinic.
“Recruiting primary care physicians is often challenging for small communities like Saluda and rural hospitals like St. Luke’s Hospital in Columbus,” said hospital Chief Executive Officer Jim Bross. “This has been a focus and goal for our board of trustees throughout last year’s strategic planning process. We are extremely pleased to open this new physician practice and make medical care convenient and accessible to residents in the Saluda area.”
As Saluda’s new hometown physician, Broyles is currently seeing patients on Mondays and Wednesdays. Certified in functional medicine, Broyles believes in a holistic approach to family care.
“I’m very excited about this opportunity, not just for me, but for the people of Saluda,” Broyles said.
