Tryon Riding & Hunt Club offering scholarships for equine enthusiasts

Tryon Riding & Hunt Club is accepting applications for college scholarships to equine enthusiasts who live in Tryon-area counties.  The deadline for applications is May 21, and awards will be made in early June.

Equestrian-oriented high school graduating seniors and those currently attending an institution of higher learning who reside in Polk, Henderson, Rutherford, Spartanburg or Greenville counties may apply for the scholarships by visiting the Tryon Riding & Hunt Club website at www.trhcevents.org and filling out the application. The amount of the scholarships may vary but will be no lower than $500.

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Be a graduating senior accepted to a higher-education program or an individual currently entered in a higher-education program

• Be a member of a local/national equine organization such as TR&HC, BRHJA, U.S. Pony Clubs, Tryon Hounds, Green Creek Hounds, USEF, USEA, USDF or actively participating in the equine industry in the counties named above

• Indicate financial need

• Applicants may not be related to any TR&HC Board of Directors member, officer or employee

In 2017, TR&HC awarded five scholarships of its own for various amounts, for a total of $5,000, plus the scholarship panel administered another $2,000 scholarship from its applicant pool.
