Local movie fans had a chance to take a brief jaunt to the Mediterranean Tuesday evening, as the Tryon Fine Arts Center hosted a special gala for its final classic film screening of the season, 1953’s “Roman Holiday,” starring Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck. Keeping with the film’s setting, the fine arts center invited guests to dress up in ‘50s-era attire and enjoy an evening of Italian food and entertainment. Visitors had a chance to enjoy pizza, baked ziti, gelato and other Italian fare, catered by Standing Stone Breads, Buck’s Pizza, A Taste of Olives and Grapes, Giardini Trattoria and Katie D’s NY Bagels & Deli. Guests also got to check out some Italian vehicles, including a vintage Ferrari and a Vespa scooter, made famous by “Roman Holiday.” Around 70 people attended the screening that evening.
