Published 8:00 am Saturday, April 21, 2018
Four volunteers and board members of the Lake Lure Flowering Bridge will talk about the history of the bridge and answer questions on Monday during the AAUW meeting at Tryon Presbyterian Church on Harmon Field Road.
Bill and Paige Massey, Alice Garrard and Danny Holland will be on hand. Bill Massey will present the PowerPoint program.
Bill and Paige are full-time Florida transplants to Lake Lure. A retired high school coach, he is now a North Carolina Master Gardener.
The presentation will include a 15 minute YouTube TED Talk about the beginnings of the bridge by the person who inspired it, the Rev. Bill Miller, who, as a child in Massachusetts, had visited the Bridge of Flowers there with his mother.
The AAUW of Tryon meetings are held the third Monday of the month from September through April. The group welcomes new members, and the public is invited to join their meetings.
This meeting will take place on Monday at 1:30 p.m. with light refreshments following.
