LANDRUM—Landrum is seeking volunteers to serve on a museum board to help plan the new Landrum museum.

Volunteers with an interest in Landrum history, or experience working or volunteering in museums, are asked to contact Landrum City Hall before April 10 to express their interest.

The city council is asking potential volunteers to submit a brief statement indicating their reason for wanting to serve, their tenure as a permanent or part-time resident and/or employee or business owner in Landrum. The council plans to appoint the board during their regular meeting on April 10.

The museum will be inside an historic Pullman Sleeper car, named Pacolet River, which once served on the tracks passing through Landrum. The museum which will be Landrum’s first, will display the city’s and area railroad histories, and will highlight special historical and visitor attractions in the area.

“The museum will be an important step in preserving Landrum’s history, as well as serving as a new attraction for Landrum’s visitors,” said Landrum Mayor Robert Briggs.

The museum board will adopt the goals of the museum, plan the layout within the railcar, prioritize the features to be displayed and guide the initial planning and operation of the museum. Volunteer statements of interest may be submitted in writing to the City of Landrum, Attn.: Museum Board, 100 N.
