Second Chance Thrift Store hosts spring reopening

The spring-like weather was welcomed by customers who lined the sidewalk in anticipation of the reopening of Second Chance Thrift Store in Columbus on Monday.
The line stretched all the way down the sidewalk to the corner. The doors opened at 10 a.m. and the eager crowd quickly made their way to the new selection in stock.
One shopper was overheard saying “I love it” as she filed through a rack of men’s jeans.
Once during the springtime and once each fall, the store closes for a few days and undergoes a complete season changeover. Each reopening brings a crowd of customers treasure hunting for the new season.
Community support of Second Chance Thrift Store through donations, shopping and volunteerism supports Steps to HOPE, Columbus’ domestic violence and sexual assault center, which serves and educates western North Carolina and upstate South Carolina.
