Hardware building to go up near grocery store
LANDRUM — Orange traffic barrels and yellow caution tape rerouted traffic to the center lane on Highway 14 in Landrum Friday.
Workers from DG Construction Service, of Duncan, South Carolina, used a mini excavator to dig up part of the asphalt and the sidewalk to connect to the town’s water source.
The work is part of the ongoing construction of the new Landrum Hardware building, located next to the Bi-Lo Grocery store. The store will be a 12,000 square-foot building, plus an additional 3,000 square foot covered outdoor space for lawn and garden items.
Hoke Enterprises laid the concrete slab the last week of December, and the walls are going up fast. Hector Hernandez, with DG Construction Service, said the work on the pipes under the asphalt should be finished by Saturday, and traffic would be back to normal.
