Polk’s population has grown by 1,600 in last decade

POLK COUNTY-Polk County’s population has seen increases over the last few years and has grown by more than 1,600 residents over the last decade.
Polk County received its audit report for fiscal year 2016-2017 near the end of 2017 and the report includes statistical information about the county, including demographic data.
In 2008, Polk County’s population was 19,402, according to the audit report and in 2017, the population was 21,020. The county gets it information from the N.C. Office of State Budget Management.
Polk’s population dropped slightly in 2009 to 19,018 but grew to 19,355 in 2010.
Polk County’s population grew more in 2011 to 20,588, but dropped in 2012 to 20,433 and dropped again in 2013 to 20,422.
Since 2013, however, the population has risen steadily every year to 20,603 in 2014, then 20,755 in 2015; 20,828 in 2016 and 21,020 in 2017.
