Polk discusses amendments to road naming ordinance
The Polk County Board of Commissioners are scheduled to adopt amendments to its addressing and road naming or re-naming ordinance. Commissioners discussed the ordinance during its Jan. 22 meeting and mentioned adding the ability for property owners to have an address for vacant land. The county’s upcoming meeting is on Monday, Feb. 5 at 7 p.m. at the Womack building in Columbus.
Polk County Recreation to host parent child dance/parachute games
The Polk County Recreation Department is calling for all little ones, ages five years and younger with their parent or guardian to come to an hour of music, dancing, parachute games and movement next Thursday, Feb. 8 at 1 p.m. Attendees are asked to wear comfortable shoes and clothes. The party is free and aimed for ages five and under but siblings are welcome if they will participate.
Polk Trails schedules rec complex trail workdays
Polk Trails has scheduled trail workdays for the Polk County Recreation Complex trail for February. Volunteers are creating the trail. Workdays are scheduled for Feb. 7 from 1-4 p.m.; Feb. 14 from 9 a.m.-noon; Feb. 24 from 9 a.m.-noon and Feb. 28 from 1-4 p.m. The workdays are weather permitting.
