Two of Tryon&39;s most famous artists, Ronnie Mosseller and Joan MacIntyre, have donated their talents to benefit the Pacolet Area Conservancy (PAC) by creating original sporting art scenes on the unusual medium of show jumping boxes.

The 10&39; wide, and approximately 2 1/2&39; tall art boxes made in two sections will be offered for auction this Friday and Saturday, Sept. 4 and 5, at the September Spectacular Horse Show at Harmon Field in Tryon.

The Pacolet Area Conservancy is hosting a free Pizza Party Silent Auction/Jump Bidding Preview Friday evening from 5:30 – 6:30. Everyone in the community is invited to join the horse show participants for pizza and bidding on one or both art jumps, as well as perusing more than 40 other silent auction selections and horse and rider tag sale items.

Bidding and sales will officially start at noon on Friday and end during the last jumping class Saturday afternoon, when the winning art jump bids will be announced between the jumping rounds of the Hunter Derby Challenge.

Mosseller is a world renown artist, and his works have resided in such esteemed places as the Smithsonian Museum and North Carolina Governor&39;s Mansion, as well as many private collections.

Although he is widely known for his beautiful handmade rugs, Mosseller has long been a chronicler of Tryon&39;s equestrian activities. Generally portraying horses and riders through his special impish lens, Mosseller&39;s art jump will not disappoint his many fans.

&uot;We expect all kinds of bids on these jumps,&uot; says PAC Executive Director Sally Walker. &uot;There are those who would love to have a unique jump in their show ring at home, and there are those who have no intention of putting these special art works outdoors in a riding ring. We&39;ve been hearing creative ideas such as using them as one-of-a-kind for sideboards in people&39;s dining rooms.&uot;

The winning bidders do not have to be present on Saturday to take the jumps and auction items home. Entrance to the horse show is free to the public.
