GREEN CREEK – A man and a woman from Cherokee, N.C. were arrested last week after officers found marijuana, concentrated THC, firearms and cannabinoid extract, commonly known as “shatter,” in their vehicle traveling through Green Creek.
Ryan Nicole Smith, 32, of Chiltoskie Rd., Cherokee was arrested and charged with numerous drug charges, including felony possession of marijuana and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, according to Capt. Lowell Griffin of the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
Dana Brent Bryant, 36, of 88 John Wilbur Smith Rd., Cherokee, was arrested and charged with numerous drug charges, including felony possession of marijuana and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, according to Griffin.
Griffin said on Dec. 14, officers with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office PACE (Polk Aggressive Criminal Enforcement) Team observed a suspicious vehicle in the Green Creek community. Officers conducted a traffic stop and in speaking with the occupants, officers observed indicators present that led to a subsequent investigation.
During the investigation officers discovered marijuana, concentrated THC, shatter and firearms and discovered both occupants had prior felonious convictions for various crimes, so they were arrested at the scene.
As of late Wednesday, Dec. 20, Smith remained in jail under a $15,000 bond and Bryant remained in jail under a $35,000 bond, according to sheriff reports.
