“Let’s Go Caroling!” is the theme of the Community Chorus’ 2017 Christmas Concert, set for 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 10, at the Polk County High School Auditorium.
The concert will feature Christmas favorites like “The First Noel,” “Carol of the Bells,” “Do You Hear What I Hear,” and “I’ll Be Home for Christmas,” as well as some fun holiday tunes: “Variations on Jingle Bells,” “The Twelve Days of Regifted Christmas,” and PDQ Bach’s “Good King Kong Looked Out.”
Anna Marie Kuether, choral music director at East Hendersonville High School, directs the Community Chorus for the Christmas Concert, and Pam MacNeil accompanies on the piano.
The concert will also feature the Christmas Chorus Brass, a quintet made up of two trumpets, French horn, trombone and tuba. The Brass will accompany the chorus on two songs and perform four solo pieces.
And no concert would be complete without an audience sing-along of favorite Christmas carols.
“This promises to be an entertaining and fun concert for the whole family,” said Linda Lee Reynolds, president of the Community Chorus. “The chorus is looking forward to sharing their gift of music with the community during this holiday season.”
The Community Chorus is a non-profit organization made up of volunteers who enjoy choral singing. They perform two concerts a year, in December and April. Proceeds from the concerts support the Rotary Club of Tryon Scholarship Fund.
