Herman Lewis Walker, age 81, of Seymour, Tenn. passed on Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2017.
He was a Deacon at Mill Spring Baptist Church, Mill Spring, N.C. He was on the E&R Board in Polk County, N.C. Herman was a graduate of NC State in 1958 with an electrical engineering degree, and ran cross country at NC State.
He was preceded in death by his father Samuel Edgar Walker, mother Nannie Walker, and brothers Alfred Walker, Victor Walker, Furman Walker and Larry Walker.
He is survived by his wife of almost 57 years, Virginia Walker; children, Janette Kunda of Chatsworth, Calif., Joyce Dowdy and husband Carl of Seymour, Tenn., and Brain Walker and wife Amy of Hawaii; grandchildren, Ashlyn Robbins, Derek Kunda, Ryan Kunda, Lydia Dowdy and Nathan Dowdy; brother, Marvin Walker and wife Gail Walker of Chesney, S.C.; and aunt Hazel Huntsinger of Mill Spring, N.C.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Tennessee Inc., 5801 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37919.
The family will receive friends 1-2 p.m., Friday, Nov. 24, 2017, with funeral service to follow at 2 p.m. in Atchley’s Seymour Chapel with Pastor Keith Vaughn and Pastor David Bame officiating. Interment will follow in Seymour Memory Gardens.
