Polk kicks off October fitness challenge

COLUMBUS – More than 200 people turned out as 50 teams for the Polk Fit Challenge (PF3). The event kicked off Saturday, Sept. 30 at Stearns Park with walking, stretching and strength training. The event offers group activities throughout the month of October, or teams and individuals can work on their own. Some of the activities include walking, swimming, running, dancing and cycling.
PF3 coordinator Buffy Ashmore said the event was made possible through a grant from Polk County Community Foundation along with sponsors ProTherapy and Fitness, St. Luke’s Hospital, Advanced Wellness Institute, Main Street Financial Group, Tryon Seventh-day Adventist Church, and TD Bank.
