► Landrum sidewalk improvements to begin next week
Phase one of the downtown Landrum sidewalk improvements are scheduled to start the week of Oct. 9. Phase one includes the north side of East Rutherford St. from Howard Avenue to Church St. Work will begin at 7 a.m. and be finished by 4 p.m. The contractor is JES Masonry and the work is scheduled to be completed well before the Halloween Stroll. Work on the south side of East Rutherford is scheduled to begin next year.
► SCDOT announces I-26 repaving plans
The South Carolina Department of Transportation has announced plans to repave the north side of Interstate 26 from mile marker five to the North Carolina state line in time for the World Equestrian Games in September of 2018.
► Landrum Halloween Stroll and Costume Contest
This year’s Landrum Halloween Stroll costume contest will take place during the stroll on Tuesday, Oct. 31 from 5 to 7 p.m. The contest will be held at the Depot.
► Landrum Lions seek nominations for Citizen of the Year
The Lions Club in Landrum seeks nominations for the annual Citizen of the Year award. Nominations are due by Oct. 31. To nominate someone, contact Bob Walker at 864-457-3328 for more information.
► LABA seeks officer nominations
Nominations for secretary and treasurer of the Landrum Area Business Association must be submitted by Oct. 25. To nominate someone email nominations to landrumareabusinessassociation@gmail.com.
