Charles Freeman Jordan

Charles Freeman “Chuck” Jordan, age 87, of Mill Spring, N.C., died, Sunday, Sept. 24, 2017, at his residence following a lengthy illness.  

A native of Polk County, he was the son of the late Clyde Jordan and Maggie Sue Edwards. Chuck served in the Air Force where he was a flight instructor in B-25 medium bombers at Reese Air Force base in Texas. After leaving the Air Force he had a career as an air traffic controller with the Federal Aviation Agency. Upon retiring from the FAA he went back to school and earned an Associate Degree in animal husbandry. Chuck then moved back to his home of Polk County and raised cattle on his farm in Mill Spring. It is there on his beloved farm, that he spent the later years of his life with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Theda Dunn Jordan, and a sister, Cleo Jordan. Survivors include his son, Charles Stephen Jordan, daughter-in-law Alison Jordan, and grandson Chance Robert Jordan of Santa Barbara, Calif., and his daughter, Mary Sue Jordan of Rutherfordton. 

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 30, 2017, in The Forest City Church of the Nazarene, with the Reverend Dale Austin officiating. Visitation will follow the service.
