On Wednesday, Sept. 20, the Tryon Garden Club will have a wonderful speaker, Margaret E. Brown, who will describe the excitement and challenge of designing flower arrangements for the Augusta National Golf Club, home of the Masters Golf Tournament. The free program will begin at 2 p.m. at FENCE and the public is welcome to attend.
Mrs. Brown has owned and operated a floral and decorating business since 1978 in Augusta, Ga. In 1981 she was hired to create all the floral decorations for the Augusta National Golf Club during the Masters Golf Tournament event. That job turned into an annual engagement and Mrs. Brown continued to create those arrangements until 2008.
Some of her famous clients include Tiger Woods, Arnold Palmer, Ben Crenshaw, Elton John, Dolly Parton, and U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor.
In addition to her work, she has been active in Augusta civic organizations and was named 1995 Conservationist of the Year, by the Georgia Wildlife Federation. In 2015, Create Space published “A Florist’s Walk Down Magnolia Lane – An Augusta Story” by Margaret E. Brown.
FENCE is located at 3381 Hunting Country Road, Tryon. For directions phone 828-859-9021 or go to www.FENCE.org. The meetings are free and the public is invited.
