Heintzberger co-authors book on thoroughbred retraining

Amber Heintzberger, a former resident of Campobello and daughter of local farrier Hank Heintzberger, has co-authored &uot;Beyond the Track: Retraining the Thoroughbred from Racehorse to Riding Horse,&uot; which has recently been published by Trafalgar Square Books.
The book presents information on retraining off the track thoroughbreds (OTTBs) for a new career, whether as a highly trained competitor, pleasure mount, or companion animal.
Heintzberger worked on the book with Anna Ford, program director at New Vocations Racehorse Adoption. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this book goes to support the New Vocations Racehorse Adoption Program.
A member of the International Alliance of Equestrian Journalists, Heintzberger is a freelance writer and photographer specializing in equestrian subjects (www.amberwriter.com). A lifelong horsewoman, she has competed in eventing, dressage, and hunter/jumpers and has retrained several OTTBs. Heintzberger lives in New York City.
