Hendersonville’s girls tennis team showed Tuesday why they may be a force to reckon with in the state 2A playoffs, rolling past Polk County 8-1 in a non-conference match at Polk.
Freshman Julia Griffin earned an 11-10 (7-5) win over Maggie Tinsley at No. 5 singles to provide the Wolverines (3-2) with their only point. Both of Polk County’s losses this season have been to Hendersonville, which moved from the Western Highlands Conference to the Mountain Six Conference this season.
“That’s a very good team,” said Polk County head coach Richard Davis. “They’re going to give some people fits in their new conference.”
The Wolverines travel Wednesday to West Henderson for a non-conference match.
