Polk volleyball squad rebounds with sweep of East Henderson

Polk County’s volleyball team rebounded from a tough five-set season-opening loss at Enka with a straight-set win Thursday at East Henderson.
The Wolverines handed East a 25-16, 26-24, 25-21 setback, improving to 1-1.
Reagan Waddell had 12 kills, 18 digs and four aces for the Wolverines, with Grace Lauer adding six kills and Ansley Lynch adding five. Lauren Ketwitz had 17 assists and 17 digs, with Kendall Hall finishing with 20 digs.
Sydney Metcalf and Carolina Castillo each added eight digs, with Kristen Hall finishing with seven assists and eight digs.
In junior varsity action, the Wolverines dropped a 25-18, 25-19 decision, falling to 0-2 on the season. Karla Olguin had 27 digs while Landry Edwards finished with four assists and nine digs and Marissa Twitty adding three blocks.
Both teams return home Wednesday, with West Henderson visiting for the first game action in Polk County’s renovated gym.
