Saluda artist, Jim Carson AIS, had his painting, “The Cottage Next to the Playhouse,” accepted to the American Impressionist Society 18th Annual National Juried Exhibition, held at Montgomery-Lee Fine Art, in Park City, Utah, September 28 – Oct 29.
There were 1,430 paintings submitted to the AIS show and 175 were accepted. This will be Carson’s fourth AIS National Exhibition. He was awarded AIS Signature Membership in 2015 with his third acceptance.
The American Impressionist Society defines American Impressionism as the concern for light on form, color, and brushstroke. It allows equal latitude between these attributes, and recognizes not a single definitive element, but several factors, including high key light and hue, visual breakdown of detail, concern for contemporary life, and cultivation of direct and spontaneous approaches to a subject.
Carson’s August Saluda workshop is full. The next one is titled “Plein Air/Painting the Fall from Life ” to be held October 19-21.
