Michel Jackson, 73, of Newton passed away on April 9, 2017.

Born on July 25, 1943 in Polk County, he was the son of the late Dorothy Jane Jackson Haynes. Michel was a veteran of the US Army. He drove trucks for over 47 years, and he worked for Siecor/ CommScope Corp. of Catawba County. Michel was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to all who knew him.

In addition to his mother, he is preceded in death by his father, Vaughn B. Haynes.

Survivors include his loving wife of 51 years, Randy Jackson of the home; children, Melissa Jackson and fiance’ David Johnson of San Diego, Calif., Gary Jackson and wife Dee of Newton, Charles Jackson and wife Rachel of Conover; granddaughter, Kylie Jackson; brother, William Haynes and wife Cheryl of Mill Spring, N.C.; niece, Rachael Woods and husband Charlie of Mill Spring; nephew, Preston Haynes of Concord; great-nephew, Jasper Woods; numerous other family members.

A graveside service will be held on April 12, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Catawba Memorial Park with Rev. Stanley Conger officiating. Entombment will follow at Catawba Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 from 6-8 p.m. at Catawba Funerals & Cremations.

Military honors will be presented by Hickory American Legion Post 48.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Cancer Center of Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center or Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or donate blood in his honor.
