Maranda Gosnell homered as Polk County rolled to a 15-3 win Tuesday over Avery in a Western Highlands Conference game in Newland.

Polk County head coach Jamie Thompson also praised the offensive efforts of Morgan Stott in the game as the Wolverines (3-2, 2-1) had their best output of the season.

“We hit the ball really well,” Thompson said.

Avery dropped to 1-2, 1-1 with the loss.

Polk County will make the short trip to Landrum on Saturday, facing the Cardinals in a non-conference clash at 1 p.m.
