POLK COUNTY DISTRICT COURT RESULTS
In Polk County District Court on Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2017, with Judge Pete Knight presiding, 149 cases were heard. Some cases were continued, dismissed or sent to superior court.
The following persons were convicted of a crime:
John Michael Belue was convicted of two counts of probation violation. Belue’s probation was revoked.
Robert Christopher Booth was convicted of operating a vehicle with improper equipment. Booth was to pay court costs.
Jose Maldonado Chavez was convicted of speeding 44 mph in a 35 mph zone. Chavez was fined $40 and court costs.
Alexandria Charlo Dale was convicted of speeding 79 mph in a 70 mph zone. Dale was fined $97 and court costs.
Kali Brion Endaya was convicted of operating a vehicle with improper equipment. Endaya was fined $40 and court costs.
Thomas Emerson Hagler was convicted of possession of marijuana up to ½ ounce, reckless driving to endanger and speeding 82 mph in a 45 mph zone. Hagler was sentenced to one year unsupervised probation and court costs.
Brian Heath Hughes was convicted of operating a vehicle with improper equipment. Hughes was fined $40 and court costs.
Skyler Reid Hutchins was convicted of operating a vehicle with improper equipment. Hutchins was fined $40 and court costs.
Ashlyn Grace Lawter was convicted of speeding 79 mph in a 70 mph zone. Lawter was fined $106 and court costs.
Milton Lewis was convicted of failure to notify DMV of address change. Lewis was fined $100 and court costs.
Cindy Maria Martinez was convicted of speeding 74 mph in a 65 mph zone. Martinez was fined $50 and court costs.
Felicia Nichole Mintz was convicted of level five driving while impaired. Mintz was sentenced to one year unsupervised probation, 24 hours of community service, a $100 fine and court costs.
Graeson D. Pritchard was convicted of simple possession of schedule VI controlled substance. Pritchard was sentenced to one year unsupervised probation, a $100 fine and court costs.
Ramey Rai was convicted of operating a vehicle with improper equipment. Rai was fined $40 and court costs.
Matthew William Rice was convicted of probation violation. Rice’s probation was revoked.
Annette Cates Sain was convicted of level two driving while impaired and driving while license revoked-impaired revocation. Sain was sentenced to two years supervised probation, seven days in jail, a $200 fine and court costs.
Bailey Alan Salisbury was convicted of speeding 79 mph in a 70 mph zone. Salisbury was fined $96 and court costs.
Adam Shelton was convicted of driving while license revoked. Shelton was sentenced to one year unsupervised probation, a $100 fine and court costs.
Xiaochun Sun was convicted of operating a vehicle with improper equipment. Sun was fined $50 and court costs.
Charles Jamar Tate was convicted of failure to wear seat belt-driver. Tate was fined $25 and court costs.
Janet Louise Taylor was convicted of speeding 79 mph in a 70 mph zone. Taylor was fined $99 and court costs.
COLUMBUS FIRE DEPARTMENT REPORT
During the month of January 2017, the Columbus Fire Department answered 125 calls for service.
Calls included 64 emergency medical calls, three fire alarms, two stranded motorist/traffic hazard, one weather related emergency/flooding, two landing zone at St. Luke’s Hospital, two medical/rescue calls in Mill Spring, one brush fire with homes threatened in Saluda, two structure fires in Green Creek, 11 motor vehicle accidents without injuries, one assist DOT with mud removal, one smoke complaint, three moving vehicle accidents with injuries, one possible structure fire in Mill Spring, six public service calls, one vehicle fire, one brush fire in Sunny View, one power line down, four no incident found, two fire alarms in Tryon, one station coverage for Green Creek, one tree down, one dispatched and cancelled structure fire in Mill Spring, one structure fire in Mill Spring, two fire alarms in Saluda, one motor vehicle accident in Saluda, one fire alarm in Mill Spring, one public service in Mill Spring, one structure fire in Tryon, two fire alarms dispatched and cancelled in Green Creek, one motor vehicle accident with injuries in Saluda, one unknown fire type in Green Creek, one structure fire and one traffic control assisting law enforcement.

COLUMBUS POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORT
During the month of January 2017, the Columbus Police Department answered 503 calls for service.
There were 18 arrests, including three felony arrests, 15 misdemeanor arrests and two driving while impaired arrests.
Charges included 30 speeding citations, 11 no operator’s license, five driving while license revoked, 19 drug charges, five uninsured motorists, 15 careless and reckless driving and four open container.
Officers completed 8,024 premise checks, including 165 residence checks, 7,548 business checks and 311 church checks.
The department assisted other agencies 19 times and received a total of 46 hours of training.

TRYON POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORT
During the month of January 2017, the Tryon Police Department answered 165 calls for service.
There were five citations issued, two accidents with property damage, 37 security checks, 11 disturbance calls, five investigations, 15 assists to other agencies and eight unlock vehicles.

SPARTANBURG COUNTY ARREST REPORT FEB. 12-18
Feb. 15
Edward Riddle, 52, from Tryon was arrested by the Landrum Police Department for open container of beer/wine in vehicle. Riddle’s bond is set at $252.
Angela Belue, 27, from Tryon was arrested by the Landrum Police Department on three Lyman municipal court violations and four drug charges. Belue’s bond is set at $50,172.
