POLK COUNTY DISTRICT COURT RESULTS
In Polk County District Court on Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2017, with Judge Athena F. Brooks presiding, 77 cases were heard. Some cases were continued, dismissed or sent to superior court.
The following persons were convicted of a crime:
Tiana Janielle Black was convicted of hit/run leave scene with property damage and reckless driving to endanger. Black was sentenced to one year unsupervised probation, a $50 fine and court costs.
Susan Russell Bowman was convicted of possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana up to ½ ounce. Bowman was sentenced to 12 days in jail with credit for time served and court costs.
David William Hill was convicted of level five driving while impaired. Hill was sentenced to one year unsupervised probation, 24 hours of community service, a $100 fine and court costs.
Trent Austin Travers was convicted of possession of drug paraphernalia. Travers was sentenced to eight days in jail with credit for time served and court costs.
John Samuel Walters was convicted of possession of drug paraphernalia. Walters was sentenced to 20 days in jail with credit for time served and court costs.
POLK COUNTY SUPERIOR COURT RESULTS
During Polk County Criminal Superior Court on Jan. 30, 2017, with Judge Alan Z. Thornburg presiding, 80 cases were heard. Some cases were continued or dismissed.
The following persons were convicted of a crime:
Joseph Mitchell Case was convicted of simple possession of schedule II controlled substance. Case was sentenced to one day in jail with credit for time served.
Hector Hugo Contreras was convicted of felony possession of schedule VI controlled substance. Contreras was sentenced to 24 months supervised probation and court costs.
Donald Allan Jaeger was convicted of reckless driving to endanger. Jaeger was sentenced to six months unsupervised probation and court costs.
POLK COUNTY WEEKLY ARRESTS FEB. 5-11
Feb. 8
Corey Dinsmore, 38, was arrested and charged with violation of court order. Dinsmore was given a $486 bond.
John Belue, 21, was arrested and charged with two counts of probation violation. Belue was given a $10,000 bond.
Feb. 9
Kaleb Patrie, 22, was arrested and charged with two counts of failure to appear on misdemeanor. Patrie was given $900 in bonds.
SPARTANBURG COUNTY WEEKLY ARRESTS FEB. 5-11
Feb. 9
Joey Howard, 44, from Landrum was arrested and charged with second-degree harassment. Howard was later released.
Feb. 11
Amy Wilkins, 38, from Landrum was arrested and charged with a Landrum Municipal Court offense. Wilkins’ bond is set at $440.
SALUDA POLICE DEPARTMENT MONTHLY REPORT
During the month of January 2017, the Saluda Police Department answered 117 calls for service. There were 59 state citations, four city citations, 23 warnings, three accidents and no larcenies. Officers completed 13 welfare checks, responded to three alarms, nine open doors, 21 suspicious person/vehicle calls and one property damage. The police department checked churches and businesses every night, conducted two license checks with Columbus and Polk County and patrolled 4,617 miles.
LANDRUM POLICE DEPARTMENT MONTHLY REPORT
The following report details activities by the Landrum Police Department during the month of January.
Traffic
There were a total of 32 traffic violations including: one disregard of stop sign, four driving under suspension, one expired tag, one failure to register vehicle, one no driver’s license, three for no tags, one for no turn signal, two operating uninsured, six seatbelt violations and 12 speeding. A total four arrests were made including: two driving under suspension and two operating uninsured.
Criminal
There were a total of 11 criminal violations including: one breach of trust, one failure to stop for blue lights, one possession of drug paraphernalia, one possession/distribution of crack cocaine, one public disorderly conduct, one simple assault, two simple possession of marijuana, one trespass after notice, one unlawful carrying of pistol and one violation of noise ordinance. A total eight arrests were made including: one breach of trust, one failure to stop for blue lights, one possession of drug paraphernalia, one possession/distribution of crack cocaine, one simple assault, two simple possession of marijuana and one unlawful carrying of pistol.
Criminal Investigations
A total six criminal investigations were carried out including: one financial transaction card theft, one simple assault, one criminal sexual conduct with a minor, one runaway, one petty larceny and one recovery of property.
Additional Department Activities
A total 18 additional activities were carried out including: two accident reports, five funeral escorts and 11 warning citations.
LANDRUM AREA FIRE AND RESCUE DISTRICT
The department responded to a total 28 calls in January including: three auto accidents, five fire/smoke alarms, two medical calls, nine other, one residential structure fire, two trash/woods/grass fires, five trees and one vehicle fire.
