Overall, they’re young, but Landrum’s women’s basketball team keeps winning, notching wins in conference games last week at St. Joseph’s, 58-35, on Friday, Jan. 13, and at Chesnee on Tuesday, Jan. 10, now 73-53.
The Cardinals, 13-1 overall and 2-0 in the region/conference, host Christ Church Episcopal this evening at 6. On Friday, they host Greer Middle College, also at 6 p.m.
Last Friday, Kaylee Huntley scored 15 points to help the Cardinals top St. Joseph’s. Huntley, who led all scorers at Chesnee, finished the two-game week with 33 points and 29 rebounds, and earned Landrum Athlete of the Week honors. A three-sport senior, Huntley also plays volleyball and softball.
On Jan. 10, the Cardinals topped Chesnee, 21-6 in the first quarter, en route to their 73-53 win over the Eagles. Lindsey Hardin’s 17 points nearly matched Huntlee’s 18, while Sara Price (11 points), Ellen Boatwright (10), Sarah Harris (nine), Alyssa Davis (four) and Rachel Lanford (two) joined in. Hardin’s scoring included three three-pointers, with Boatwright adding two, and Harris one.
